ABOUT THE FARMERS' MARKET

Triwood Community Association organizes approved farmer's markets, under the Alberta Agricultural Society. All markets follow the same guidelines, therefore, meet the same standards and increases consistency across Alberta! Being an approved Farmer's Market places us under an "umbrella" food permit that covers food vendors at the market. They are allowed to produce their food products in their home kitchens.

Market's follow and 80/20 rule. 80% of vendors must be Albertans who make, bake or grow the products they're selling. By hosting an approved market, Triwood is enabling entrepreneurs to test their products and ideas while keeping costs low, interacting with the community and learning new business skills.

Triwood is responsible for following rules and regulations by the ministry of Agriculture, including the above 80/20 rule. Acceptance to the market will depend on this, along with other vendors and products that are already part of our market. While we do not guarantee overlap of products, we do our best, to provide our customers with a consistent variety of local products.

We require a minimum of 10 committed vendors each week, support from the community, a market manager, a food permit from AHS, insurance and liability,  and a minimum of  10  market days per year to continue as an approved farmer's market.

AF requires that vendors selling food and/or agricultural products who have not already completed an approved Alberta food sanitation and hygiene training program or who are not required to complete the food safety training described under Section 31 of the Food Regulation must complete the Food Safety Basics for Farmers’ Markets course available through AHS. COMPULSORY within one year of becoming a new vendor.

All food and agricultural vendors must have their food and safety certificates displayed during the market.

Each week we are planning to have an entertainer and/or a giveaway to help attract more traffic to the market. It would be extremely helpful to the success of the 2021 market for all vendors to like and share our general market posts to your timeline and Instagram stories up to a few days prior.
