Animals Week (4) at Triwood Summer Camp

Updated: Jul 24

Forecast calls for lots of hot weather again. We'll beat the heat by staying in shaded areas outside, reapplying sun screen as directed, taking lots of breaks inside of the fully air-conditioned Triwood spaces, drinking plenty of water and participating in indoor games.

On Monday our groups went on a fun-filled animal-themed scavenger hunt and played Bug Bingo!

On Tuesday we welcome the Minds in Motions folks to teach everyone about Animal Adaptations. Ever wonder why rabbits turn white in the winter and brown in the summer? And why is it that we don't see lions and tigers in Canada but we do see bears? Together, we'll explore the different habitats found in our amazing world and the awesome adaptations that plants and animals have grown to thrive in them! We will then use our brains - and a bit of electricity - to bring to life our very own adapted creatures using the marvelous powers of Makey Makeys and Scratch coding.

On Wednesday we are thrilled to have Butterfield Acres bring their petting zoo in the morning! We loved meeting these furry friends, learning more about them and giving them creative names! Forecast includes poor air quality so we'll be staying inside as much as possible.

And to end off the week, we are going to the Splash Pad! The campers had a ton of fun last Friday too and we are looking forward to returning already.

See you very soon, summer campers!
