The City of Calgary is sharing this important update about the Foothills Multisport Fieldhouse and the revitalization of Foothills Athletic Park:
To enhance safety, promote community recreation and support the wellbeing of Calgarians, we will be removing non-operational amenities around Foothills Stadium in the coming months. This essential step will help us prepare the area for future developments that benefit our community and ensure the continued safe use of the baseball diamond, which will remain operational until the area is needed for construction.
Â
This change positions the athletic park for its next chapter as part of the Foothills Athletic Park Master Plan, continuing to help Calgarians meaningfully enjoy an active lifestyle and vibrate sports culture. Investment in new, modernized facilities is essential to serving Calgarians now and for generations to come. More information about the Foothills Athletic Park Master Plan will be shared in 2025.
The non-operational amenities to be removed include spectator seating, concessions, ticket booths, washrooms, the outfield wall and two pieces of lighting infrastructure. They have been fenced off to protect the public from potential hazards since 2021.
Â
We plan to remove these amenities over the winter so the baseball diamond is ready for Calgarians to safely enjoy next spring. Work is expected to be complete by spring 2025. In the next few months, Calgarians will see construction happening around the stadium site. There is no safety risk for customers or staff accessing the baseball diamond or park.Â
Â
Access to the adjacent buildings and parking will remain open unless short-term, temporary access is required for our crews.
