Dear Triwood Residents,
I’m reaching out today to share an update on an important issue that has been affecting communities across Calgary, including our own: restricted covenants and their implications for property use and development. Triwood Community Association has been actively monitoring this matter and understands the concerns it raises for many residents. In response, we formed a committee to carefully review the issue and determine what position, if any, our Association should take. We are also aware of the efforts being led by the Brentwood Community Association, which has taken a more active role in addressing restricted covenants. Triwood has been working closely with Brentwood, including participating in the recent public forum hosted by Brentwood, where our committee was in attendance to listen, learn, and represent our community.
After thoughtful discussion and consideration of the diverse perspectives within our community, the committee recommended—and the Board agreed—that Triwood will adopt a neutral position on this issue. We believe this approach best respects the range of views held by our residents while allowing individuals to engage with the topic in the way that suits them best.
For those who want to learn more, the Triwood Planning Committee is hosting an information session on Wednesday, October 8th at 6:30pm and we invite you to attend. Your thoughts on this topic are welcome and the sharing of information can assist you in making your own independent decision on how to proceed.
Alternatively, to voice your opinion directly to the City of Calgary and make your voice heard, the local City Councillor for Ward 4, Sean Chu, can be contacted at CLWard4@calgary.ca.
We remain committed to keeping Triwood residents informed and engaged. If you have questions or would like to learn more about the committee’s work or the broader conversation around restricted covenants, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Thank you for your continued support and for being an active part of the Triwood community.
Warm regards,
Mark Whiteman
