Summer Camp 2025 is Off to a Great Start! šŸŒ±ā˜€ļø

We kicked off Week 1 of Triwood Summer Camp 2025Ā with big smiles, excited campers, and a NatureĀ theme to set the tone for the season! Even though it was a short week due to the Canada Day holiday, we filled it with hands-on learning, creative exploration, and plenty of outdoor fun.

We're so excited to welcome back our amazing camp team—with half returning from last year and half joining us for their first Triwood summer. This mix of experience and fresh energy is already creating a welcoming, enthusiastic space for our campers to learn and grow.

To launch our Nature theme, we started with a camp-wide scavenger hunt, encouraging campers to explore the outdoor spaces around Triwood and reconnect with the natural world. They also got busy making DIY bird feeders, learning how to support local wildlife in their own backyards.

One of the highlights of the week was the return of Janet from Calgary Cottage Gardener, who guided campers through a fun and educational workshop on flowers and pollinators—and everyone got to take home their very own plant!

Campers also participated in one of two nature-inspired workshops:

  • "Dive into the inner workings of a flower" – In this workshop, participants used safe tools to dissect and exploreĀ the parts of a flower, learning about each structure's function and comparing them with those found in animals and humans.

  • "Grow your understanding of agri-tech" – Campers discovered how technology and agriculture intersectĀ in this hands-on activity. After learning about the needs of their new "plant pet," they built and programmed a soil sensorĀ using block coding—just like the technology real-world farmers use to monitor crops!

We ended the week with a joyful trip to the nearby splash pad—the perfect way to cool down and celebrate a successful first week of camp.

We’re so happy to be back in action and are looking forward to a summer filled with creativity, discovery, and community here at Triwood. Let’s grow together! šŸŒ¼šŸŒž
