Summer Camp 2026: Week 5, Animals!

Week 5 of Triwood Summer Camp was a wild one! Campers spent the week learning about, creating and celebrating animals through special visitors, science, art and outdoor fun.

We kicked off the week with a visit from the Butterfield Acres mobile petting zoo, where campers got to meet some furry and friendly animal guests right here at Triwood.

On Wednesday, Minds in Motion from the University of Calgary returned with two animal-themed workshops. Younger campers took on the Gondola Rescue challenge, while older campers explored genetics and probability through Monster Mashup, creating their own unique creatures.

The animal theme continued with arts and crafts, including monster designs, playdough animals and origami.

We wrapped up the week with a fun afternoon at the splash park! A big thank you to our campers, counsellors, special guests and program partners for making Animals Week such a fun one!

We acknowledge that Triwood Community Association and surrounding communities are located on the traditional territories of the Blackfoot Confederacy (comprising the Siksika, Piikani and Kainai First Nations), the Tsuut’ina First Nation and the Stoney-Nakoda peoples (including the Chiniki, Bearspaw and Goodstoney First Nations). This is also home of the Otipemisiwak Métis Government, Districts 5 and 6. As residents of the Treaty 7 region in Southern Alberta, we seek to live, work and play in ways that honour and respect the spirit of the treaties and the lives of our Indigenous neighbours.
