What an amazing first week of Triwood Summer Camp! We've had so much fun getting to know our campers, making new friends, and jumping into a week full of creativity, exploration, and adventure.
On Monday, we kicked things off with an exciting magic show that had campers laughing, cheering, and wondering, "How did they do that?"
On Tuesday, we welcomed our friends from the University of Calgary's Minds in Motion program for hands-on science workshops all about nature.
Our younger campers explored Pollinator Programming, where they learned how bees, butterflies, and other pollinators help flowers grow while experimenting with an icon-based coding language designed for non-readers. It was a fun introduction to ecology, biology, and computer science!
Older campers took part in Petal Power, carefully dissecting flowers to discover their hidden structures and learning more about plant biology through hands-on investigation.
Throughout the week, campers embraced our Nature theme with plenty of creative activities. They headed out on nature scavenger hunts, made beautiful nature bracelets, created critter-themed beaded keychains, crafted their own trees, built cozy nests outdoors using natural materials, and painted colourful ladybugs and dragonflies to take home.
On Thursday, we're excited to welcome Janet from Calgary Cottage Gardener, who will lead a fun gardening workshop. Campers will learn about growing flowers and will each pot their own plant to take home - a special keepsake from camp!
We'll wrap up the week with one of our favourite Triwood Summer Camp traditions: Splash Pad Day! With warm, sunny weather in the forecast, it's the perfect way to cool off, play with friends, and finish an incredible first week of camp.
Thank you to all of our camp families for helping make Week 1 such a success. We can't wait for another week of adventures ahead!
