Triwood Summer Camp Week 2 Recap: Around the World

This week at camp, we went on a global adventure — no plane ticket needed. Campers kicked things off by making their own passports, then explored different cultures through crafts, games, music, and more.

With the heat on Tuesday, we made the most of it at the splash park — and loved it so much we went back again on Friday.

We also welcomed the Minds in Motion team for two workshops. In Boogie Bots, campers learned dances from around the world and created coded dance routines for paper “robots.” In GeoJam!, they built their own continents and cultural scrapbooks, reflecting on how landscapes shape communities.

Thursday brought one of the highlights of the week: a live drum circle! Campers learned about rhythms and percussion instruments from different parts of the world, and had the chance to make music together.

It was a creative, high-energy week full of new experiences — we’re excited to see what next week brings!

We acknowledge that Triwood Community Association and surrounding communities are located on the traditional territories of the Blackfoot Confederacy (comprising the Siksika, Piikani and Kainai First Nations), the Tsuut’ina First Nation and the Stoney-Nakoda peoples (including the Chiniki, Bearspaw and Goodstoney First Nations). This is also home of the Otipemisiwak Métis Government, Districts 5 and 6. As residents of the Treaty 7 region in Southern Alberta, we seek to live, work and play in ways that honour and respect the spirit of the treaties and the lives of our Indigenous neighbours.
